Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of Alderweireld, 29, with the United boss keen to bolster his defensive ranks this summer.
Spurs are demanding around £70m for the centre-back this summer, with the Red Devils only willing to fork out £50m for Alderweireld.
And former Tottenham star King says he would love for Alderweireld to stay in north London, however, he admits Spurs have proved they can cope without their key man.
When asked whether Alderweireld is likely to quit Tottenham for United, King, speaking at the William Hill Arms, exclusively told Express Sport: “At the moment I’m sure he’s concentrating on Belgium and after that, he’ll let the situation take care of itself.
